It’s frustrating to hear people being shocked about the Keybase acquisition by Zoom. Stop trusting your security to third party companies. Bring back finger! 🤬

It is amazing, and also depressing, watching national- and global-level strategic health/science/politics communication being done over Twitter, a platform expressly designed to make communication hard.

People resorting to Tweeting screenshots of Tweetstorm essay screenshots, because they need to discuss and fact-check complex logical arguments line by line, and Twitter just didn't think that was an important use-case and actively wanted to disincentivise it.

That makes my programmer soul sad.

Russia asked for access to Delta Chat user data ... so we had some explaining to do :) Cheers to decentralized app designs and the e-mail system's separation of apps and message transport, something that Whatsapp, Telegram and the likes fail to offer ... delta.chat/en/2020-05-01-roska

ActivityPub can be confusing and/or hard to test or develop against.

I started a new side project called FediDB to help Pixelfed and other implementations debug federation issues.

It will be launching soon, need to test DMs and Federated Stories in Pixelfed 😅

I'm eager to work with other projects on this!

Urgh seeing some of the REALLY cool things people with @write_as blogs can do when it comes to the fediverse is really making me consider moving from WordPress.

Such as this: blog.cjeller.site/the-ties-bet

and this:

But I've put soooooo much work into my website...

hi fedi!

us in the cabal club are spending the next 7 weeks creating a subjective moderation system for cabal: a volunteer-driven & open source p2p project for resilient chat. [1]

we think it's important to ground the implementation in lived experiences, hearing concerns, and just listening to other people a bit

we're looking for people to interview & prioritizing those who identify as trans and/or women. please dm me if you are interested

thank you!

this is a nice Smarter Every Day video about the emergent behavior in flocks of Starlings: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4LWmRuB-uNU

they show up in downtown DC in the evenings, flying between the office buildings and it's quite cool to watch

Just played XCOM: Chimera Squad for a bit. Seems like a fun little game (if you enjoyed XCOM2) - nothing really new though. I got a refund on Steam after 4 crashes in 2 hours. I might buy it again in 6 months. @Feri

Starting out regular Thursday night tournament game on pokerstars.uk at 8pm if anybody wants to join. Give me a shout for the details.
